About
Lenore Matthew, PhD
Healthy living should be rooted in science—and filled with joy.
My mission is to make nutrition science and lifestyle medicine understandable, practical, and actionable—and to help people discover that healthy living doesn’t have to be restrictive or overwhelming.
In fact, in order to be sustained, healthy living can (and should!) be enjoyable and fun!
I've always been fascinated by one question:
Why do people struggle to change, even when they know what to do?
That question has shaped my career.
It led me to earn a PhD in Social Work and spend 15 years working in healthcare, namely in research, evaluation, and direct practice.
Throughout my career, I became fascinated by the science of human behavior—what motivates people, what holds them back, and what helps lasting change take root.
Over time, another realization became impossible to ignore: Nutrition and lifestyle weren't just influencing physical health—they were shaping energy, mood, resilience, confidence, and quality of life.
In my work, I saw firsthand how food, movement, sleep, and community could transform lives, affecting not only physical but also behavioral, emotional, and even social well-being for the better.
But I also came to understand something else:
Healthy habits only become lifelong habits when they’re enjoyable enough to sustain.
Guided by this philosophy, I expended my clinical practice from Social Work to the field of Dietetics and Nutrition.
Currently, I am pursuing my Registered Dietitian Nutritionist training, with a focus on lifestyle medicine, functional nutrition, and nutrition behavior change. My clinical interests include type 2 diabetes prevention and treatment, non-restrictive weight management, and helping people build sustainable habits that support lifelong health.
Today, my work brings together both halves of my professional journey.
Nutrition science explains what supports health.
Behavior change helps people make those changes last.
Together, they create a powerful foundation for lifelong well-being.
Whether I'm writing, speaking, or working directly with people, my mission is the same: to make nutrition science and lifestyle medicine understandable, practical, and actionable—and to help people discover that healthy living doesn't have to be restrictive or overwhelming.
In fact, I believe healthy living can (and should!) be enjoyable.
Because the healthiest lifestyle isn't the most restrictive one. It's the one you enjoy enough to keep coming back to, day after day.
